Istanbul is the only city in the world that has two different continents, it is huge. You will fall in love with it the moment you step out of the airport, which in my case was Istanbul Atatürk Airport.
There are thousands of hotels and other tourist-oriented industries in the city, catering to both vacationers and visiting professionals. The city is alive day & night so you can expect heavy traffic and a busy airport.
If this is your first visit then you will need to know where to go and have a plan already, i stayed at the Alkoclar Keban 4 stars hotel, it’s exactly a min away from the main Taksim Square and nearby almost everything you might need from Metros to other attractions.
The hotel was a great start for my vacation from staff to cleanliness and location, totally recommended!
I’ll list down some of the activities/attractions you should not miss in your visit to this fascinating city.
Taksim square, Isteqlal Avenue (only a minute from the hotel, packed with restaurants, cafes, stores, nightclubs and busy on weekends).
Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia & Topkapi palace (near Sultanahmet area, entry fee is 30TL about 15 US Dollars, book your ticket online or at the hotel to avoid staying in line for hours).
Eminönü District (Eminönü has many historical mosques and buildings such as the mentioned above plus Grand Bazaar, Spice Bazaar and The new mosque).
Bosphorus Ferry Cruise Tour (probably the most overlooked Istanbul tourist attraction).
Istanbul’s Street Food (Kestane, Corn, Oysters, Kumpir Potato, Simit, Shawerma & surely the Turkish sweets almost in every shop).
Istanbul’s Night Life (Isteqlal Avenue is filled with your average nightclubs such as Lupe, Olympics, Indigo which i did not really enjoy other than that you will find 360, Riddim & Reina to be just great).
That was a quick guide that i thought might help some of you to explore the city, there is way more than that in Istanbul, trust me this city will leave you speechless!
Bosphorus Ferry Cruise
The New Mosque
Kestane & Corn
Reina Restaurant & Nightclub under the Bosphorus bridge
One of the best American burger joints in town and one of my favorites is now open at KIPCO Tower in Sharq, i love the new location since its very close to my office. 😀 I wonder how i never seen the place there before though i passed by KAPICO a couple of times already, thank you guys for the info. You will be seeing more of me in the next few days, weeks and months. 😉
As we finished the night yesterday from the movie “Life of Pi” which is a masterpiece by the way, i came to notice a new burger place just right near the cinema in the Avenues called “The Counter”, i couldn’t resist the urge to try it since the idea of customizing my burger got my attention in the first place.
We were greeted and seated by the friendly staff, then came the messy Menu and with it came the explanation, we ordered our own customized burgers defiantly to try out from the (Build your own burger menu), and mine was stuffed with almost everything that i was barely able to get a bite! and then got a Trio mix of Fries, Sweet Potato Fries & Onion Strings that was enough for 3 persons.
DELICIOUS!! was the first word to come outta my mouth, i ordered my burger medium and for the first time ever the burger came the way i ordered it pink from inside which is my favorite of course <3, the fries was alright though nothing special.
After a while we had a chitchat with the manager and we got to know a little about the place and that they might be opening two other branches soon somewhere in Mahboula and 360 mall.
Then came this delectable large cookie with ice cream as a complimentary from the restaurant. In short, it was a great experience and i certainly will come back again. Our total bill came KD 18.850 which is average for such restaurants.
Lord of the Wings is a Lebanese chain restaurant specialized in Wings & Burgers, as you may know now the restaurant will be opening its doors soon in Kuwait, Discovery Mall to be exact. I’m not a big fan of chicken wings though but i sure will give their menu a try as from the many good reviews i heard about this place.
